Chapter 1

The Human Mystery

If we could see within this Rose,
It looks so pure and bright -
And read its future as it lives;
Then we could guide it right.

Yes, the picture of the Rose in the garden is beautiful; but the duration of its life is but a few days then it fades away until the time of its new life in a few short months.

Let us look at the Rose of Humanity. As we gaze upon it, what do we see but a mystery, a picture, an interesting small piece of Humanity; yet, as we look upon it we seem to try to look into its future and try to see beyond the closed petals of its future life.

Only through the Path of Wisdom can we see a child as it should be seen. As we gaze upon it, it seems to open up before us and reveal the true self - the Soul-Mind. We see the possibilities of its future life - providing it is not contaminated or its Soul-Mind subdued by circumstances. Of course, all children who are brought into the world are not of the advanced Soul-Mind; but there are many advanced souls born and they should be taken care of as a priceless gift. The mother who is fortunate enough to have such a child should be enlightened by some man of Wisdom so they will not hold back the Soul-Mind from further advancement; but will try to understand it and be always ready to answer the questions it may ask in such a way that it will not have to memorize - but never forget. The questions the child will ask will enlighten the parents as to the plane of the Soul-Mind.

The Soul-Mind is the Creative part of each human child born.

Let us see just what a child is and how many parts there are to a child:

First - there is the father and the mother. They eat of the foods of the Earth; and by so doing make it possible to replenish the Earth. If there were only the two elements of the child then, although, it would have all the molding of a perfect child it would only be of the material and would have eyes but see not - ears but hear not - arms and legs but could move them not for the mind would not or could not function, therefore, that is the part that comes from the Earth and goes back to the Earth again - as the petals of the Rose.

The Creator's part that puts life and action into the child is the Soul-mind. As soon as the Soul-mind takes possession, life becomes active and movement begins.

When the Soul-mind takes possession of the material brain, the child can see and hear and know it can move its arms and legs.

As the material parts of the body begins to mature, the Soul-mind begins to formulate mental pictures and picture material and the mind begins to understand the things it sees and is told.

Advancement begins.

A child is born with a free will and for a few months uses it. Soon the mother begins to teach the child right from wrong; but this does not take away the free will - it trains the right side of the mind to think right and do right and puts it into the Path of Higher Thought.

As the child advances, it feels a love for the mother and a respect for her.

From the age of two years on the Soul-mind reveals itself. If it is a bright intelligent child it will ask questions that will startle the mother; and she will be inclined to think that a child so young should not ask such questions - but, I say to you, as one who understands life from its beginning to its end "do not discourage your child. If you cannot answer its questions, say nothing for the time will come when that child will - if left alone - answer the questions for itself. It is the Soul-mind asking through the young brain the questions it has answered in lives before, and in due time, will answer them again. If the child asks a question you can answer, be sure to answer it correctly and in child language so it will understand."

Questions that come from an advanced Soul-mind will be such as these and the child may not be more than three or four years of age. He may startle you with asking - Why do the trees grow? Why do the leaves fall? From where does the rain come? Why do we have to eat? What makes the clouds; and why do they go across the sky? What do you mean, when you say, "the sun goes down"? What made the mountains?

When a child under six years of age asks these questions, you should know he is of the highest Soul-mind and should look upon him as a wonderful man to be; also encourage him at every year of advancement.

The unfolding has begun,
Let us watch and try to see -
Just how a Soul-mind can
Unfurl a mystery.
