Chapter 3

The Mountain Home

To look from a mountain
Down to the plain below,
Brings a mind into action;
And Wisdom into it will flow.

The home is built.

The governess, the mother and son move to their mountain home. As they ascend the mountain, the boy is all interested and the natural expansion of a Soul-mind begins.

When they arrive at their new home, he wants to know if this is where they are going to live or how long they are going to stay; how the mountains are made; how the trees grew into the mountain sides; will it ever get dark; can he play outside; when will he have to go to bed; when will he have to get up in the morning; will it get cold here and will he be able to play as long as he likes. When he sees his room, he looks around in amazement for everything he had at home in the city was here for him.

The next morning his life begins. His governess is there to greet him; and she is just as much interested in this little 'Bud of Humanity' as the parents. It is going to be a new experience for her too, as she says, "very odd, yet interesting."

She sits down and reads the instructions from the mother. She reads:

"You must not force him to do anything - ask him if he wants to. When walking out with him, if he asks you a question that borders on the plan of Creation - say to him 'you will be able to answer that question yourself, just wait, and as you grow up, you will know it of yourself - then it will be yours'."

Strange instructions; but they must be obeyed.
