Let us look into the home the day before the letters arrive.
We see the father and mother and a stranger in the house. He is asking the question about the sale of their property on the mountain.
"Yes," the father said, "we have to sell."
"What do you ask for it?"
"$2000."
"Does that include the land and buildings on the land?"
"Yes, it cost us lots more; but you know it is hard to sell anything in this time of no money so we are anxious to sell."
"All right," the stranger says, "my client will take it at your price. When can we have the deal put through?"
"As soon as possible, Sir. We need the money."
"You can have a check for $1900 today and a check for the other $100 when the deal is closed. This is my orders from my client so here it is. I will get busy and have the deed of sale recorded tomorrow."
He leaves. The mother looks at the father and he at her, with the check in his hand and tears in his eyes.
He says, "What about our boy? Yes, and he loves that mountain home. What will he say, when we write and tell him it is his home no more?"
The mother speaks. Her emotion is keen; but as she speaks you can see her seeing her boy as he is - so natural. "He will pack, leave and come home. He will not complain."
As she understood him when a child so does she understand him in his youth. Yes, and she will always understand for she is of the higher plane just as he.
The next morning, as they were sitting at the breakfast table, two letters were handed to them by the mail man. Two, yes, and both from the mountain. They opened the boy's first and read it with interest; then opened the other and also read the contents of the letter from the girl who once they hired as a governess to their child. They both got up and put their arms around each other and wept tears of joy and understanding such as they had never done before.
The mother then said, "Since I cannot be with my boy there is not another person I would rather have with him than the one whom I chose to look after him as a child so all is just as it should be. The boy does not know of the exchange. She cares for him and tries to be everything to him that he may need for she too sees the Light of Life and Truth. Her life as she says is entirely changed and that change is for the better."
